Apply for Field Placement

You must apply for your field placement the semester before you expect to participate in your clinical field experience. All students apply for field placements using the online Candidacy File system, but requirements are different for each program. See the Application Requirements below for more details.

Teacher Apprenticeship Requirements

Fall 2026 semester application due dates: All Application materials are due by January 15th, 2026. This gives you time to interview with your Placement Specialist by February 1, 2026. After a student's application and associated materials are submitted, they will receive an email inviting them to schedule a Placement Specialist Interview.

Birth to Kindergarten Practicum Requirements

CPR and First Aid Certification

Note: Effective August 1, 2023, CPR/First Aid certification is no longer required to receive a Michigan teaching certificate. Instead, this requirement must be fulfilled as part of new teachers’ in-service professional learning.
