WGVU Morning Show Interview with Julius Suchy, '06 & '08

Julius has held various positions with other municipalities, mostly recently being with Ada Township, and prior to that, with the Village of Sparta.

Being the Township Manager of Ada has allowed him to focus on larger organizational goals as opposed to being spread over more projects in some of the smaller communities he has served.

While being a GVSU student, he appreciated the various viewpoints of the faculty, the theory and practical application taught in the classroom, the guest speakers, as well as the opportunity to work with community organizations on community projects. This solidified his desire to be in the public service sector.

Two of his biggest accomplishments thus far have been his 2016 Grand Rapids Business Journal's Economic Newsmaker of the Year Award while working as the Sparta Village Manager, and secondly, receiving the 2021 Mentoring Award by the Michigan Municipal Executives. Creating internships and being a mentor is his passion.

Julius received both his bachelor's and master's degrees in public administration from the School of Public, Nonprofit and Health Administration at GVSU.
