The internship impacts on Dylan Ousley

Dylan Ousley graduated with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in April 2019.  He then completed the GVSU Police Academy.

Prior to graduation, Dylan completed three semesters of internships with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department accomplishing three very unique experiences in different departments of the agency. Dylan had job options and chose to be hired by the Zeeland Police Department upon his academy completion.

He directly connects his hiring opportunities with the excellent experiences he gained with his internships and mentorship relationships he developed with professionals along the way.

Dylan has also been a guest presenter on multiple occasions for the Criminal Justice internship informational meetings held for students considering an internship.  He has been eager to share how valuable his experiential learning has been and how it directly related to his career path. He recently met individually with two of Visiting Professor Laura Marsh's students and shared his educational experiences and the many facets of his career.
