History of CCEL

The CLAS Center for Experiential Learning was established in response to input from faculty, staff, and students during strategic planning sessions in 2021. It serves as a resource hub, supporting the university's commitment to experiential learning. Key milestones include consulting with experts Tia McNair and Jillian Kinzie in Fall 2022, hiring Faculty Fellows to liaise with units and faculty from Fall 2022 onward to integrate high impact educational activities into courses, launching the Laker Accelerated Talent Link and hosting a feedback conference in Spring 2023, and receiving a TitleIIIA Strengthening Institutions grant in Fall 2023. The grant will fund two full-time faculty specialists focused on integrating high-impact educational activities into courses and analyzing data related to student success.
