Master of Science in Health Informatics and Bioinformatics

Degree Overview

The program consists of 12 three-credit courses (36 credit hours), consisting of core courses, directed courses, an area of specialization (concentration), and two required capstones - a course and an internship. Classes are offered fully online, in a hybrid format, or in-person in the late afternoon or evening in downtown Grand Rapids.

Admission Requirements

Overall requirements for the M.S. in health informatics and bioinformatics consist of 36 credits, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Consistent with Grand Valley policy, all courses must be completed within eight consecutive years from entry into the first graduate course.

Study Plan

Before starting the program, students must have a study plan approved by the Graduate Program Director (GPD). Students are responsible for keeping the plan of study current before the beginning of each semester and getting the GPDs approval for any changes to the plan.
