Students will examine the default norms of digital communication (e.g. whiteness, heterosexuality, binary gender) and explore intersectional identities online (e.g. race, class, gender, sexuality, nationality, ability status). The course will investigate dominant and marginalized communities' use of digital spaces and media, considering the ethics of online communication, research, and participation.
