PHI 470 - Philosophy of Language

A survey course in the philosophy of language. Topics include: theories of meaning, truth, and reference; meaning and interpretation; semantics vs. pragmatics; speech acts; language and thought; knowledge of language. Offered winter semester of every even year. Prerequisite: One philosophy course or permission of the instructor.
