PHI 306 - Eastern Great Philosophers

A study of one or several Eastern great philosophers, such as Lao Zi, Chuang Zi, Confucius, Mencius, The Buddha, Nagarjuna, Zhu Xi, Wang Yangming. Focus will be on the philosophers' writings, but attention also will be given to context and tradition. Offered Winter semester. Prerequisite: Prior work in philosophy or permission of instructor.
