HST 345 - The Ancient Mediterranean and Orient

Examination of literate civilizations of the ancient world from their origins in the Mesopotamian, Nile, Indus, and Yellow River Valleys through Classical Greece to the culmination in the great empires of Han China, Parthian Persia, and Rome. Includes comparative study of institutional, social, economic, intellectual, and religious developments and trends. Offered fall semester, odd-numbered years. Prerequisites: HST 203 or junior standing.
