Why did you choose GVSU?
GVSU had everything I was looking for. An active student life, small class sizes that have enabled meaningful relationships with faculty, and amazing industry partnerships that have led me to multiple internships and opportunities. Not to mention the beauty of West Michigan, from Grand Rapids to Lake Michigan, made it an easy choice.
What made you want to join Blue Nucleus?
I worked as a cloud computing intern at Twisthink this past summer and had an amazing experience. A few months later, Dr. Rafiq introduced me to Blue Nucleus. It was my first time hearing about it but I jumped at the opportunity to get involved in consulting again.
What has been your favorite experience in the program so far?
This semester, I’ve been working on a more research focused project involving LRM and preprocessing. It’s a completely new experience for me, so I’ve really enjoyed having the space to explore, learn and push my capabilities.
Favorite Hobbies and Interest:
In the winter, you’ll find me snowboarding, and in the summer, I’m usually at the lake kayaking or enjoying the sun. I also love cozy games like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. I’m a big fan of true crime and horror, and I enjoy baking and trying new creative hobbies (currently attempting to crochet).
What's something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I’m obsessed with convertibles and sports cars! I’ve owned two over the past few years, a 2016 convertible Mustang and a 2015 Mini Cooper S convertible.
Fun Fact(s):
- Preferred OS: iOS!
- Early Bird vs Night Owl: Early bird. I’m usually up by 5 or 6 am, even on weekends.
- Describe Blue Nucleus in One Word: Transformative
What is your goal after Graduating?
After completing my undergraduate degree, I plan to gain experience as a Data Engineer or Data Analyst while I continue my masters in Data Science & Analytics. After graduate school, I hope to begin my career as a Data Analyst. Overall, my goal is to stay curious, keep learning, and explore everything the tech industry has to offer.
