Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I join ASA?
You will become a member of a student organization that focuses on educating students on the current and future status of the accounting industry, build and expand on hard and soft skills to utilize in your future endeavors, and building a community of students with the common shared interest of accounting.

What do you do at ASA meetings?
You can expect a variety of activities during ASA meetings, including panel discussions, office visits, resume building/career fair prep, and social events.

How much time does it take out of my week?
A member should expect to attend 2 hour meetings every other week.

When does ASA meet?
Meetings will be held on Tuesdays at 6:00PM during the Fall Semester and Wednesdays at 6:00PM during the Winter Semester. All meeting times are listed under the Events Schedule. Our Events are the meetings!

Is it worth it?
Yes! Membership in ASA provides various benefits. First, it provides further knowledge of accounting careers that isn't provided in class. It provides opportunities to meet with individuals who have experience in various areas of accounting. Membership in ASA also aids individuals in standing out during job searches and interviews. If you would like to learn more about the opportunities and benefits of ASA membership you may e-mail a member of the e-board.

What if I can't cover the fee for dues but I would like to become a member?

What if I meet all the requirements, am interested in joining, but don't have enough time to meet every week?
If you are interested in occasional ASA event but are unable to attend regularly, we welcome you to any events that catch your interest.

What are the ASA dues and when are they due?
Member dues are $50 per semester. The due dates are October 7th for the Fall Semester and February 11th for the Winter Semester.

If I was a member of Beta Alpha Psi before the name change, am I still considered a member?
If you were an inducted member of Beta Alpha Psi, your membership to Beta Alpha Psi is for life. You may still list Beta Alpha Psi membership on your resume. In order to be considered a member of the Accounting Student Association, you must be up to date with the current semester dues, otherwise your membership will be considered inactive.
