AI Collective
The AI Collective
Discover, Explore, Experiment
A low-pressure, multidisciplinary space for GVSU faculty, staff, and students to navigate the future of AI together.
Shaping our Future, Together
What is the AI Collective?
The AI Collective is a recurring, low-pressure, multidisciplinary forum designed for the GVSU community to navigate the AI era together. It moves beyond technical instruction to focus on practical application, ethical stewardship, and the preservation of critical thinking in a rapidly evolving landscape.
The AI Collective is not a "computer lab"; it is a community kitchen. We don't just talk about the recipe (the policy) or look at the ingredients (the tools); we cook together, taste the results (evaluate output), and decide as a group what belongs on the university’s table.
Vision
To position GVSU as a leader in human-centered innovation, where technology is leveraged to enhance the Liberal Arts tradition and empower every member of our community to thrive with integrity and purpose.
Mission
To provide an inclusive, low-stakes environment for faculty, staff, and students to discover, explore, and experiment with AI. The AI Collective bridges the gap between technological change and institutional policy by fostering a culture of critical AI literacy and shared expertise.
Why Your Voice Matters: The Call for Diversity
We Need Every POV—Especially the Skeptical Ones.
For GVSU's approach to, and integration of, AI to be ethical and responsible, the Collective must attract a large, diverse group. We are actively seeking Professional Support Staff (PSS), faculty from all disciplines (including Humanities and Arts), and students. To Join, simply rsvp to a monthly meetup so you can stay up-to-date and contribute to this ongoing, high stakes conversation.
How We Meet: The Monthly Format
