The Annual
Student Scholarship Day
at
Grand Valley State University

Each year Grand Valley State University (GVSU) hosts Student Scholarship Day (SSD). GVSU students present talks, prepare posters, and give performances based on their original work. Faculty members act as sponsors and collaborators. The first SSD was held in 1995. It was sponsored by the Division of Science and Mathematics. Statistics faculty members Neal Rogness and Paul Stephenson have been the guiding force behind SSD since its inception. The event has grown to become the premier campus-wide opportunity for students to display their work. SSD 2001 involved more than 500 student presenters and 120 collaborating faculty. Student Scholarship Day is but one example of the energy and initiative of the Statistics faculty.
