Freedom of Information Act

The Michigan Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) provides all persons except those incarcerated in correctional facilities with access to public records. Requests to inspect or receive public records must be in writing and must describe the requested records with sufficient detail to properly identify them. A prompt written response will either grant request or explain why, in part or whole, the request cannot be granted. A fee may be charged for processing request. All written requests for public records will be handled in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act regulations.
