1Inclusive Excellence Teaching Institute 2023   

Virtual Three-Day Institute: May 11, May 23, June 8, 2023  
Facilitators: Chasity Bailey-Fakhoury and Mirta Paola Leon  

This year's virtual institute will be facilitated by Dr. Chasity Bailey-Fakhoury and Dr. Mirta Paola Leon and take place over three full days: May 11 (Thursday), May 23 (Tuesday), and June 8 (Thursday). The Institute will meet via Zoom from 9AM-3PM for each of the dates with a break for lunch. Registrants are expected to attend all meetings.  

The Inclusive Excellence Teaching Institute is specifically designed to provide Affiliate and Tenure-Track faculty of all ranks with a transformative space to learn and strategize about inclusive excellence in teaching and learning.

If a spring/summer course is canceled due to low enrollment or other reasons, you are required to update your staffing plan and to notify Heidi Nicholson so that she can cancel or revise the contract.

May 5 Requests for more substantial Facilities changes to be done summer 2024 (changes requiring construction, full-classroom furniture changes, new electrical installations, etc.), using Facilities Request Form from https://www.gvsu.edu/clas/unit-heads-51.htm#F, sent to Mona Silva ([email protected]) in Dean’s office 

May 8 Classes begin (1st 6 & 12 weeks) 

May 12 Last day to add or register for classes (1st 6 & 12 weeks) 

May 19 75% tuition refund deadline – 1st 6 week courses – by 5:00 p.m. 

June 2 75% tuition refund deadline – 12 week courses – by 5:00 p.m.  

June 9 Drop with a “W” deadline 1st 6 weeks 

June 19 Classes End – 1st 6 weeks 

June 20 & 21 Exams – 1st 6 weeks 

June 26 (Monday) – Grades due in Banner by 12:00 p.m. (noon) 

June 30 Last day to add or register by 5:00 p.m. – 2nd 6 weeks 

July 4 Independence Day Recess – no classes/campus closed 

July 7 75% tuition refund deadline – 2nd 6 week courses – by 5:00 p.m. 

July 14 Drop with “W” deadline – 12 week courses – by 5:00 p.m. 

July 15 Fall 2023 Staffing Plans due 

July 28 Drop with “W” deadline – 2nd 6 week courses – by 5:00 p.m. 

August 4 Classes End – 2nd 6 week and 12 week courses 

August 7 – 8 Final Examinations 2nd 6 week and 12 week courses 

August 14 (Monday) Grades Due 2nd 6 week and 12 Week courses – by NOON
