I am an M.S. student studying the spatiotemporal variability of carbon metabolism in a drowned river mouth coastal lake ecosystem (Muskegon Lake, Muskegon County, MI). The aim of my master's thesis research is to investigate changes in lake metabolism, associated environmental variables, and the trophic relationship between phytoplankton and bacterioplankton to identify events and time frames in which Muskegon Lake becomes a source or sink of carbon. Between finishing my B.A. and starting at Grand Valley State University, I worked for EA Engineering, Science and Technology and Three Rivers Environmental Assessments in several capacities as an aquatic biologist technician. My interests include microbial ecology, restoration ecology, and water quality and quantity issues. I hope to be graduating in the Fall of 2010.
