Michele Coffill began working for Grand Valley's University Communications office in 2000, following a career as a newspaper reporter and editor. She earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Michigan State University and a master's degree in education from Delta State University in Mississippi.

Her primary responsibilities include editing Forum, a weekly newsletter for the campus community, and Grand Valley Magazine, a quarterly magazine.

She is member of Grand Valley’s Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Executive Planning Committee, Inclusion Advocates and ADA Advisory Committee.  Coffill is also an executive board member for the Greater Grand Rapids Women’s History Council and volunteers at the Community Food Club. In 2007, she received Grand Valley's Administrative/Professional Award for Service to Community.
