Courses - Music & Arts Program
OU Course Options
OU offers a wide variety of courses in English each semester.
Music Students
Classes applicable to any of our music students are Arts Management, Chamber Music, Choir Practice, Dance (music education majors), and others. Our students can for example take upper-level music history and theory classes, applied lessons, and chamber music in addition to classes that would count as electives such as Basso Continuo, Contemporary Music Studio, Czech for Foreigners – NonSlavic speakers, and Marketing in Education. Students interested in taking applied lessons are required to submit a recording of their playing before signing up for any applied lessons or performance classes. This should be coordinated with the head of a specific area. The Faculty's orchestra, Ostrava Youth Orchestra, Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava are musical bodies which provide the student with ample opportunities to work in the chamber of large symphonic ensembles. Students interested in additional opportunities can look into accredited programs such as the two-year Chamber Music Program that might be interesting for our performance majors after they finish their BM at GVSU.

OU recommends students take a train to Ostrava which is the most frequent and practical choice.
