DeMontfort University is located in Leicester, United Kingdom. Leicester is considered one of the top 10 cities in England to live in and is home to the 2nd most diverse community, second only to London. Leicester offers a vibrant campus that is walking distance from the city center with a range of amenities from shopping, restaurants, pubs, banking, and more.

DeMontfort University has been recognized for a wide range of successes in recent years. Most notably, it has received Gold status by the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) which is the highest possible standard for teaching quality. It is ranked 601 World University Rankings by Times Higher Education. It was originally founded in 1870, but obtained university status in 1992. DMU is only available to GVSU students for Fall semester or Academic Year. They do not admit exchange students for Winter semester.

Students will live in on-campus housing which is arranged by DeMontfort's International Office. Students who apply by the DMU deadline will be guaranteed housing in DMU's Castle Court Halls of Residence

Tuition & Registration (paid to GVSU): $7,290 

  • GV Tuition, 12-15 credits ($6,954) based on upper-level, in-state rates for 2020-21.
  • IS 380 registration fee ($336)

Students must have completed at least one semester at GVSU at the time of application and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Culture

DeMontfort University is located in Leicester, about a hour and a half north of London. Leicester is considered the 2nd most diverse city in England after London. The city of Leicester is very pedestrian friendly with shops, entertainment, and a wide range of restaurants all within walking distance from DMU.

Arrival Information

DMU will arrange for an coach (bus) airport pick-up that will take students directly to their housing. 

Students typically fly into London and either take a train or the bus to Leicester. Students will be a short taxi ride from campus from either the bus station or the train station. 

You cannot enter the UK on a flight via Ireland because you will not receive the correct stamp in your passport to validate your student visa.
