Spain: Spanish Language, Culture and Business with CIDE - AFFILIATE PARTNER

With a long-standing reputation based on its compromise with academic excellence and a focus on students’ integral education, the University of Deusto, host to 11,000 students, is the oldest private university in Spain. Its main campus is located across the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, in northern Spain, a city that international students highly apreciate for its perfect size, its strategic location to get to know both Spain and Europe, and its natural environment of green mountains and beautiful beaches.

GVSU students will study in the Bilbao campus through the International Spanish Center (CIDE). CIDE offers both a Spanish Language and Culture Program and a Business and Spanish Program. The Spanish Language and Culture Program is aimed at students interested in improving their Spanish proficiency, as well as in getting an immersion experience in a culturally rich environment. The Business Program offers business specific classes in English, and also allows students to get immersed in the Spanish language and culture. Students in both programs can choose among a variety of courses, and also have the option to take a regular University of Deusto course if their schedule allows so.

Detailed information can be found on the CIDE website. CIDE options are available for the fall, winter, academic year, or the summer.

CIDE Programs also offer internships in Business and in Education in semester programs. They are now offering an in-company Summer Business internship!

GVUS's partner universities are largely independent programs; prospective participants should carefully consider if this form of study abroad suits their needs before registering. These partnerships allow students to experience a more independent international study abroad, but also require students to have a high level of flexibility and the ability to navigate much of the program independently. Those who prefer additional support may wish to consider other study abroad options such as external study abroad providers and our faculty-led options.
