Switzerland boasts some of the world's most famous inventions – they created Velcro, cellophane, the Swiss Army Knife, absinthe, the potato peeler, Helvetica font, LSD, muesliedible chocolate gold and milk chocolate to name a few.

Switzerland has more than 1,500 lakes. Every lake is no more than 10 miles from another lake. Also, Switzerland has 48 high mountain peaks, more than any other country in Europe.

Switzerland has four official languages, French, German, Italian, and Romansch.

The Swiss musical form of yodeling began during the early Stone Age and has a long tradition outside of Switzerland. Yodeling is said to have developed as long-distance communication and cow-calls.

The highest doctors to patients’ ratios in the world is in Switzerland. Over 23,000 general practitioners and specialists for Swiss citizens. 

Switzerland does not have a president as chief of state. Instead, a seven-member council governs the country, rotating in one-year terms as federal president.
