French Abroad
As a French major or minor, it is essential to experience francophone culture first-hand to fully understand the language. Studying abroad is the best way to do this, because it allows you to completely immerse yourself for a significant period of time and avoid feeling like a “tourist.” Employers appreciate candidates with cross-cultural communication skills who have the ability to adapt to changing environments. Search courses in your major in the Course Approval Database to see other Pre-Approved Courses. If a course is not Pre-Approved, you can get it approved by following the Course Approval Process.
Academic Advice
- The earliest you can go abroad is the summer of your first year.
- Students may fulfill General Education Foundation and Issues requirements abroad
- Students taking at least 3 credits abroad will fulfill their Global Perspectives requirement
- Students should be working with their faculty mentor to plan and make appropriate course selections for study abroad.
- No restrictions have been identified by the Department of Modern Languages & Literatures.
