Criminal Justice Abroad
The systems of checks and balances that keep societies in order are different around the world and each has its own strengths and weaknesses. By learning about these other systems, you can learn to critically think about justice systems with your fresh perspective by comparing and contrasting them.

Academic Advice
FIRST YEAR AND SOPHOMORE STUDENTS
- The earliest you can go abroad is the summer of your first year.
- Students may fulfill General Education Foundation and Issues requirements abroad.
- Students taking at least 3 credits abroad will fulfill their Global Perspectives requirement.
GENERAL ADVICE
- Students may take courses that satisfy some requirements in their Criminal Justice major or the General Education program. Be sure to begin planning at least six months in advance.
- Students do not need to speak a foreign language in order to study in a country where English is not the official language. Take advantage of your newly honed language skills and seize the opportunity to do an internship at a company or cultural organization at the end of your time abroad.
- Courses should explore issues in crime and justice, policies of crime prevention, as well as issues in policing and criminal law.
