Cost Breakdown for FH- Joanneum (FHJ) Engineering & Computing Program

Health insurance

FHJ requires students to purchase health insurance while studying in Austria. The estimate is approximately 55 Euro per month. Students are also encouraged to consider purchasing the ISIC card ($28) which meets the GVSU insurance requirement.

Housing

Housing costs are based on 300 - 500 Euro per month or $340-$570. Students will also have to pay a deposit that is typically equal to two months rent. The cost estimate listed includes the deposit, administrative fee, and rent for 5 months. Many different options to choose from, actual cost will vary by location.

Students who receive the Ernst Mach Scholarship will pay around $10,811 per semester.

$18,794 (estimated cost for out-of-state students who do not receive a tuition differential scholarship - the estimate reflects an average of the high and low end cost estimates listed.)

Out-of-state students who receive a GVSU tuition differential scholarship will be able to use that scholarship towards the cost of this program. Exception: international students will not have access to the tuition differential scholarship for use towards the cost of study abroad.

*Based on 2018-2019 in-state, upper-division tuition rates for 12-15 credits. If you complete more than 15 GVSU credits during your semester abroad, tuition charges for the additional credit above 15 will be billed to your GVSU student account after you return and PIC completes the transfer of credit.

Ernst Mach Grant Opportunity - students can apply for the Ernst Mach Scholarship through FH Joanneum. This grant offers selected students 940 Euro per month or approximately $1,070 US per month.
