Are you leaving campus for the summer? Before you go, it is important to take care of these 5 things and not miss out on opportunities that will set you up for success next year. Here’s everything you need to do on campus before you can spend the next 3 months basking in the summer sun.

Make the Most of the LIB

Before you can lay by the pool sipping a fruity drink out of a coconut, you have to somehow survive exams. The Mary Idema Pew Library (LIB) is the perfect place to study and make sure you ace your classes before the semester ends. Did you know that you can reserve a study room and check updated computer availability all on the website? During Exam Cram (April 13-26), you can even utilize the library’s extended hours and check out the real-time traffic display online to find out how busy it is. Summer’s right around the corner, but don’t let that distract you from focusing on academics!

Book sell-back

As the semester is ending, you might realize that you have all these expensive textbooks that you’ll never use again. The solution? Book sell back! Take your old textbooks to the Laker Store and trade them in for some cash! The books don’t have to be originally purchased from GV, and the best sell-back prices occur during finals week. Find more information on the book sell back website!

Go to the beach

The Allendale campus is less than a 30 minute drive from the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan. Now that the weather is warmer, it is the perfect opportunity to head to Grand Haven or Holland to watch the sunset or frolic in the sand. Take advantage of this opportunity while you can!

Solidify Your Schedule and Meet with an Advisor

It’s important to plan ahead, so double and triple check your schedule for next year to make sure you are in the right classes. Meet with your academic advisor to make sure you’re on track to graduate. It’s always a good idea to make sure you’re as prepared as possible before leaving for summer.

T. Haas selfie

As our beloved president’s GVSU career comes to a close, we are faced with the sad realization that we have limited time to get our last T. Haas selfies. If you see him on campus, chase him down and get that sacred photo! Having trouble finding him? Come to the Haasta La Vista Student Send-Off for your final chance to get a picture and say your farewells to President Haas and his lovely first lady, Marcia.

Once you’ve checked these 5 things off your list, you can leave campus knowing you’ve had a successful year at GVSU and are well prepared for the next. Make sure you’re making the most of the time you have with your fellow Lakers before you all part ways, and if you’re looking for something to do, check out the events calendar. Congrats on a successful year of hard work, and have a fabulous summer Lakers!
