Janelle's professional work is at play. They study, research, and teach about games and their environments, which means you'll often find them in the woods on their Switch playing games about birds with the birds.
Areas of Interest
My research focuses on how we live, play, move, and thrive in both digital and material environments, and how our experiences in the digital or material world influence our experiences in the other.
You'll find me thinking about these research areas and the places they intersect: Indigenous Environmental Justice Movements, Game and Play Studies, Movement Studies, Environmental Game Studies, Queer Game Theory, Climate Studies, Environmental Humanities, Land-based Pedagogy, Rhetoric and Composition, and Writing Studies
