Academic Affairs Process and Procedures

Effective date:  March 2017


Technology focused Administrative and Professional (AP) positions approved by the Provost will benefit from a collaborative environment with Information Technology (IT) and are encouraged to consider the following:

  • IT advice or participation in the position description development and search process
  • Orientation with an IT representative/s upon hire

Responsibilities for approved Academic Affairs technology focused AP positions must follow these guidelines:

  • Provide support for departmental/college curriculum/discipline needs, including hardware and software, that are not supported by IT
  • Engage IT in new hardware/software acquisition to ensure security, compliance and operation with our networks
  • Request Records/IT guidance on departmental collection of data that would be considered “sensitive data” and/or FERPA/HIPPA protected
  • Engage Records/IT in internal/external requests for student data and/or any sensitive data owned by the university
  • Provide internal department assistance to faculty/staff for IT supported systems/applications based on knowledge but not to supersede IT areas of responsibility
