Diven Honored with Award

Professor Polly Diven was awarded the 2025 Hillman-Orr Award from the World Affairs Council of West Michigan at a luncheon at Meijer Gardens on Wednesday, June 18. The award recognizes someone who brings global awareness and international understanding to the West Michigan community.
Professor Diven teaches International Relations and U.S. Foreign Policy at Grand Valley and is also Director of the International Relations program. Her current research examines the effects of gender representation in military leadership and security policy. Professor Diven has organized numerous public lectures at Grand Valley and in Grand Rapids by national and international experts on issues of foreign policy, international conflict, and diplomacy, among other topics. She has long worked with the World Affairs Council of West Michigan to help inform the west Michigan community about international affairs.
