Outreach K-12 Space at the Innovation Design Center

The Innovation Design Center provides an interdisciplinary, hands-on learning hub for an intergenerational community of makers and builders. The new K-12/Community Outreach Space hosts high-quality, hands-on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) camps and activities. These include FIRST Robotics, Science Olympiad and Science Technology Engineering Preview Summer (STEPS) Camp, among others. More than 10,000 students in the K-12 pipeline for STEM careers will benefit from the Innovation Design Center annually.

The space includes a dedicated FIRST Robotics practice field to host dozens of schools across West Michigan. New teams from low-income communities often do not have space to build robots and practice piloting skills prior to competing. Those students will now have that needed space.
