James R. Sebastian, founder of Rapistan and leader of the engineering education movement, was dedicated to cooperative education and ensuring that while students were learning in the classroom, they were also learning with someone in the profession.
From the beginning, the program has been a collaborative effort between engineers in industry and the faculty to create a robust engineering curriculum. The partnership continues today, with every student participating in one year of full time co-op experience and an industry-based senior capstone project.
There are many ways to engage with and support GVSU and the Padnos College of Engineering and Computing. Possibilities include sharing your time in acting as an advocate at your company in support of our co-op and internship programs, industry sponsored projects, serving on one of our advisory boards, or career hiring of our graduates. Follow the links above to learn more about opportunities for engagement.
