Biography:

Anna White is a Laker for a Lifetime and a former English major who took a hard left turn into the sciences. She earned her Master of Science in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she worked with the second largest collection of children’s and young adult materials in the United States. After getting hooked on scientific information, she began her official library career in medical schools and hospitals before returning to Grand Valley in 2018 as Science Liaison and Strategic Lead for Data Information Literacy.

Anna’s research interests include (but are not limited to): the use of children’s materials in nontraditional settings, building data information literacy competencies, medical humanities in academic libraries, supporting underrepresented groups in science through the library, knowledge and authority development online, and the use of metaphor in library instruction as a means of transfer of learning. She loves to learn and will be interested in whatever you’re interested in.
