MLL 313 - World Language Teaching Description

Introduction to PK-12 world language teaching, including second language acquisition theories and methods, the American Council on Teaching Foreign Languages Readiness Standards, and advocacy. Includes 20 virtual hours exploring PK-12 world language education through materials of practice or related experiences like student work samples, classroom video, and curricular materials. Offered fall and winter semesters.  Prerequisites: Grade of C or higher in FRE 202, GER 202, or SPA 202, or permission of the instructor.

MLL 314 - World Lang HLP Teaching PK-12 Description

This course provides an introduction to core practices for world language pedagogy, emphasizing standards-based tasks through backward design to facilitate comprehensibility and promote interpersonal communication. Field experience of 30 hours (in-person and virtual) required in PK-12 world language settings. Options available for students without transportation. Offered fall and winter semesters. Prerequisites: MLL 313 (may be taken concurrently); one of FRE 315, GER 302, or SPA 322 with a grade of C (not C-); or permission of instructor.
