2019 Climate Survey Project Timeline
PHASE I: November 2018 - January 2019
Convene Advisory Team under the leadership of the Division of Inclusion and Equity and request budget:
- The development of my GVSU Climate survey 2019 will again use key groups and constituencies (student and faculty governance) and staff who have had experience with previous climate surveys at Grand Valley as well as hold campus forums to invite interested members of the campus community for input.
- Budget requested and determined.
PHASE II: February 2019 – June 2019
Develop Survey instrument
- Meet every two weeks through June 2019 to develop the survey instrument
Communication plan
- In order to maintain transparency and provide updates to the campus community, the advisory team will develop a communication plan with key members and constituents:
- Develop website
- Set timelines
- Determine incentives
- Identify external vendors as needed
- Marketing materials – name of survey, visual identity, taglines
- Develop outreach/advertising plans
HRRC proposal
Jesse Bernal, VP of Inclusion and Equity, is the primary investigator for the project and will submit the HRRC proposal.
PHASE III: November 2019
Survey distribution
- An invitation to participate in the survey will be sent by Vice President Jesse Bernal at [email protected] to all students, faculty, and staff at Grand Valley State University.
- Survey Launch event on November 14, 2019.
- The survey will be available in accessible formats.
Data analysis
- Data coding, database management and data analysis will be conducted by an outside consultant.
- Survey open
- Continued advertising, steady messaging
- Stand-by for questions/troubleshooting
- Immediate Post-Survey
- Report out response rate, thank you to participants
- Incentive winners
PHASE IV: March-April 2020
Report
- A written report will be developed by the consultant and shared with the campus community. Ideally, this report will be shared in March – just after Spring Break, giving plenty of time to form implementation of Action committees before the Spring/Summer semester.
- The report results will be presented to the campus community through a series of town meetings.
PHASE V: May-December 2020
Actions
Actions will be developed based on the results of the report and other information available to the university to build on the successes and address the challenges at Grand Valley.
