Homegrown

MiSTEM

Homegrown, developed by Grand Haven Area Public Schools in partnership with the Chamber of Grand Haven, Spring Lake and Ferrysburg, brings design thinking and project-based learning to students by pairing elementary school classrooms with local manufacturers to solve actual design challenges. The first classroom to jump into the three-week Homegrown experience was a second grade class that kicked off with a visit to Beacon Recycling.

Teachers who participated in Homegrown participated in a Professional Learning opportunity offered at Ottawa Area ISD called FuturePREP’d which includes the IChallengeU, IChallengeUth, and Sundae School programs.
