The application process has multiple steps and begins with reviewing "What is the GVSU McNair Scholars Program". Once you've determined if the McNair Scholars program is a good fit for you, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Express your interest

Complete the Interest Form for our review.

Step 2: Meet with McNair Director

Once we've reviewed your interest form we will be in touch to schedule a virtual meeting with the McNair Director to discuss your interest and the program requirements. Meetings usually run 20-30 minutes and will take place via Zoom (or other virtual platform).

Step 3: Receive the application form

• Once your eligibility has been verified by the director, we will email you the application. For a complete application you will need to submit: 
  • Application Form
  • Personal Statement
  • 2 letters of recommendation

Step 4: Complete Application form and Obtain Supporting Documentation

• Obtain your income verification information.
• Write your personal statement.
• Contact two faculty to provide recommendations.
  • Share with them this link to complete the recommendation form.
  •  Approach your faculty as early as possible to request your letter.

Step 5: Attend an Interview

• After your application has been approved by the McNair director, you will schedule an interview with the McNair team before being admitted to the program.
