Curriculum Materials Library
The Curriculum Materials Library provides K-12 educational resources, services, & equipment for check out and use by Grand Valley State University faculty, students, and alumni.
Visiting
- The Curriculum Materials Library is located inside Steelcase Library in DEV 114A on the Robert C. Pew Campus in downtown Grand Rapids.
- Study spaces are available whenever the library is open.
Parking
- Parking is available in the Seward Lot with access from Fulton Street. Additional parking is available in the Watson Lot behind Secchia Hall.
- Guest parking is available in Pay-to-Park spaces in the Winter Ave and Eberhard Center lots.

Inside the Curriculum Materials Library
Poster Printer
Log onto our computer with your GVSU log-in and open your PDF or high resolution JPG file. Our HP DesignJet T520 poster maker will enlarge your image to about a 2 ft. by 3 ft. poster.
Laminating Machine
Our GBC Ultima 65 Laminator will laminate materials up to 25 inches wide.
Paper Trimmers
Two styles of paper cutters are available for you to use. We have one 38" rotary trimmer and two heavy duty, guillotine style, paper cutters.
Ellison Dies
The Ellison shape cutting machines & dies allow patrons to punch out letters and shapes quickly and easily. We carry a wide assortment of die-cut shapes that are available for your use. Check out the Ellison website for shape cutting ideas!
Comb Binding Machine
Comb sizes range from 1/4" - 2" in black, white or blue. Our staff will help set up the machine and guide you through the process of binding and creating a professional look to your presentation. Clear covers and card stock are available upon request.
Spiral Binding Machines
Spiral coil sizes range from 6 mm - 18 mm in black. Our staff will help set up the machine and guide you through the process of binding and creating a professional look to your presentation. Clear covers and card stock are available upon request.
Art Kraft Paper
Eight colors of 36" wide bulletin board paper are available:
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
- Green
- Blue
- Brown
- Black
- White
Button Makers
Our machines will make a 1 1/4" or 2 1/4" round buttons. Bring in your already printed designs and we can help you make them into buttons. Design your buttons using the design sheets or the templates.
Study Spaces
Group Study Tables
The Curriculum Materials Library has five (5) large tables for group projects. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis whenever the library is open.
Steelcase Reading Room
Located just outside the CML, The Steelcase Library reading room features a cathedral ceiling, stained glass windows, comfortable chairs, and work tables.
Collaboration Zone
Just outside the CML and Steelcase Library, meet for a group project in the Collaboration Zone. Open whenever Building A is open.
Amenities
Restrooms
- Single-gender restrooms are located at the north end of DeVos Building A at DEV 121A and 123A.
- A single-stall, accessible gender-neutral restroom is located just north of the Collaboration Zone and DEV 117A in Building A. This restroom also has a baby-changing station.
Wellness Rooms
- A Nursing Mother's Room is located at DEV 119A, just north of the Collaboration Zone in Building A.
- The Kauffman Interfaith Reflection Room is located at DEV 130B in Building B.
Technology
- Computer stations in the library and in nearby computer labs: DEV 127A, 203A, 204A, 205A, 210A.
- A Macintosh computer lab upstairs from the library in DEV 211A
- A copier/scanner in the library, with a print room in the Collaboration Zone.
- Laptops, chargers, and graphic calculators available for check out.
- Podcasting and video equipment available from the Digital Creator Lab
Collections
Our collection is located in two locations. The Curriculum Materials Library (CML), located in downtown Grand Rapids on the first floor of the Richard M. DeVos Center, inside Steelcase Library, houses a diverse collection of puppets, teaching aids, big books, print materials and educational machines. The second half of our collection of K-12 print materials is housed on the 4th floor of the Mary Idema Pew Library on the Allendale Campus.
K-12 Textbooks
We have a large collection of K-12 textbooks and idea/activity books. It is housed between the Curriculum Materials Library and the 4th floor of the Mary Idema Pew Library.
Big Books
The Curriculum Materials Library has about 300 big books. The topics include all subject areas. The Juvenile / Young Adult Collection is housed at the Mary Idema Pew Library on the Allendale campus.
Puppets
The CML has almost 300 puppets. Many of them are from the award winning puppet company, Folkmanis.
Teaching Aids
This collection contains a great variety of games, puzzles, manipulatives, kits, maps, primary documents, and much more.
Professional Tests
Professional Education Tests may be checked out and used by education faculty for classroom presentations. All other patrons can view the tests in the library.
Videos and DVDs
GVSU Libraries has a collection of DVD's and videos in a wide range of subject areas. Annenberg Learner videos are intended for teachers, but many are ideal for use in the classroom or for viewing at home.
University Libraries provides access to streaming videos that will interest all GVSU library patrons.
