Zoom Updates January 2024

Zoom Client Updates

  • Update to OpenSSL 3.1.4 - Linux, Android, iOS - Due to the recently disclosed vulnerabilities with lower versions of OpenSSL, the Zoom client is updated to use OpenSSL 3.1.4. Depending on your network security configuration, you may also need to update your network infrastructure devices’ firmware.

Zoom Events and Sessions Updates

  • Enable or disable Zoom Events Image Generation - Account owners and admins can enable or disable the Zoom Events Image Generation feature. When enabled, hosts can use Zoom AI to create images to use in their event. This feature is disabled by default. This feature may not be immediately available, as it is dependent on a backend server update.
  • Domain URL branding - Account owners and admins can upload their files to configure the branding domain on the Zoom web portal. Once configured and activated successfully, the domain will be used for the hub listing page, event detail page, and lobby. This feature may not be immediately available, as it is dependent on a backend server update.
  • Support for Korean, Spanish, and Indonesian localization - Users can change their language preferences. The Zoom Events host and attendee experience is localized in Korean, Spanish, and Indonesian. Email Builder also supports localization for email templates in these languages.

Zoom Contact Center Updates

  • Localization for video transcripts - Video recording transcripts are now supported in multiple languages, meaning recordings are correctly transcribed in the specified engagement language. For example, if the consumer selected Spanish and had a video engagement with an agent in Spanish, then the recording of the engagement will also be correctly transcribed in Spanish.
  • Always-running campaign for outbound dialer - Account owners and admins can create always-running outbound campaigns for the voice channel. The always-running option is useful when the contact list is dynamically updated from another source. The outbound campaign will continue running even if there are no contacts in the contact list. The campaign will not end when it runs out of contact records, but instead it sits idle waiting for more contact records to be added, and then it restarts dialing. Admins can also configure contact sorting rules. This enables brands to support continuous outbound campaigns based on changing contact lists from their marketing workflows or other sources.

Zoom Phone Updates

  • Common Area support for Android phones - Owners and admins can set up their Android smartphones as shared phones for retail and other front-line scenarios. In this mode, the Zoom Common Area can be enabled on the Zoom app running on the device to place or receive calls and participate in call queues and other workflows. You can submit a request to Zoom to enable this feature for your account.
