GVSU joins over 50 colleges and universities in National Student Success Project

Grand Valley joined other colleges and universities across the country as part of the National Student Success Project, a group committed to taking action to help students achieve their full potential before and after graduation.

The project was formed in conjunction with the American Association of Community Colleges, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, the American Council on Education, the Association of American Universities and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities.

At the project's launch event in Washington, D.C., leaders announced that Grand Valley was part of a group of over 50 higher education institutions forming the initial cohort.

The National Student Success Project seeks to address concerns from students and families about the value of a college degree through five core commitments:

  • Deliver a strong value for the investment students make in education.
  • Empower students with clear and affordable pathways to a degree or other significant credential.
  • Advance academic excellence with innovative programs and strong teaching.
  • Ignite career ambitions through real-world experiences and robust guidance.
  • Cultivate a community that supports all students and promotes civil dialogue and respect for others.

GVSU President Philomena V. Mantella said joining the National Student Success Project was a great fit for the university.

“At Grand Valley, empowered educational experiences, affordability, access and well-being are core parts of our commitments to our learners. As part of the NSSP, we are able to network and collaborate with other institutions of higher education committed to those same goals,” Mantella said.
