No. 23 Grand Valley eyes strong finish as Michigan Tech visits for Homecoming

Grand Valley enters the final stretch of the regular season with two games remaining, beginning with this weekend’s Homecoming game against Michigan Tech.

The No. 23 Lakers meet the Huskies at 2 p.m. at Lubbers Stadium on November 8. Tickets and parking passes for the game are available at the GVSU Ticket Office webpage.

After dropping consecutive games to Saginaw Valley State and Ferris State, the Lakers (5-3, 4-2 GLIAC) rebounded with a commanding 59-13 win over host Wayne State last weekend.

The midseason slide could have deflated the locker room, but head coach Scott Wooster credited the team’s leadership for keeping morale high.

“Anthony Cardamone, Brett Weaver, Jimmy Downs, all those guys. I’m just so proud of the culture that they’ve created and that they live every single day,” head coach Scott Wooster said following the Wayne State win.

“I’ve been on teams that, after you lose back-to-back games to rivals, it goes the other way. I’m extremely excited about this team.”

Meanwhile, Michigan Tech (7-2, 4-1 GLIAC) enters the game aiming for at least a share of the GLIAC championship and a berth in the Division II playoffs.

Grand Valley holds a 33-4 advantage in the all-time series and has won the last nine meetings.

Fans can watch the game online at FloFootball. The radio broadcast is available on WLAV-FM 96.9, WJRW-FM 106.1/WJRW-AM 1340 and WLCS-FM 98.3.
