Lakers close regular season against Roosevelt at Lubbers

No. 21 Grand Valley closes out the 2025 regular season this weekend, taking on Roosevelt University at Lubbers Stadium on November 15. Kickoff is 1 p.m.

Tickets and parking passes for the game are available at the GVSU Ticket Office webpage .

The Lakers (6-3, 4-2 GLIAC) are looking to extend their win streak to three games after edging Michigan Tech, 18-15, in their Homecoming matchup. The Homecoming win gave Grand Valley its second straight victory following back-to-back losses — the program’s first such slump since 2019.

Michigan Tech added a late touchdown to tighten the score, but the Lakers held on to secure the win.

For their performances against Michigan Tech, linebacker Torian Wyatt and punter Trace Hrgich earned GLIAC Player of the Week honors.

Wyatt recorded a career-high nine tackles with two sacks, a safety and a forced and recovered fumble. Hrgich played a key part in the game’s field position strategy, punting six times for a 43.7 yards average and placing three kicks within Tech’s 20-yard line.

“I’m proud of the guys and their response,” said head coach Scott Wooster, following the Homecoming game. “A couple of weeks ago, it was tough and really uncomfortable around here.”

Roosevelt (2-7, 1-5 GLIAC) picked up its second win of the season with its victory over Wayne State last weekend.

The Lakers’ defense will face a challenge against a Roosevelt passing attack that leads the GLIAC in total yards (2,411) and yards per game (267.9). In his third career start, quarterback Tony Chahino set a school record with 366 passing yards, a 56-31 loss to Michigan Tech, on November 1.

Grand Valley beat Roosevelt, 34-21, last season in the teams’ first-ever meeting.
