No. 1 Grand Valley faces Wayne State for the second time this season at 3 p.m. on November 5 at Lubbers Stadium.

The Lakers and Warriors met in September in a non-conference game, but Saturday’s meeting will officially be a GLIAC contest. Saturday’s game also marks Senior Day and at halftime, the 2002 team will be honored on the 20th anniversary of its national championship, the first in program history.

“Wayne State has a lot of tight games, and they’re coming off their bye week, so they’ve had a chance to heal up,” said head football coach Matt Mitchell.  “We take nothing for granted with Wayne State.”

No. 1 Grand Valley football inched closer to a GLIAC championship with its 42-7 win over Michigan Tech on Oct. 29.

Quarterback Cade Peterson was named the GLIAC’s Offensive Player of the Week for his record-setting performance against the Huskies.

Peterson was 18-of-19 on his passing attempts, throwing for 304 yards and two touchdowns. His 94.7 completion percentage set a GVSU and GLIAC single-game record.

Peterson also became the fourth quarterback in GVSU history to rush for more than 1,000 yards and pass for more than 4,000 yards in a career.

“Cade has been playing great down the stretch,” Mitchell said. “On Saturday, he threw the ball extremely well down the field. For us to have that type of day passing, I think will have residual effects especially when opponents watch our team, and see we’re not a one-dimensional offense.”

Saturday's game will be livestreamed via FloSports, and is available online or via iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Chromecast. Lakers fans can register for a subscription at the GLIAC’s home page on FloSports

Tune in to 96.9 WLAV-FM for the radio broadcast of the game. Pre-game coverage begins at 1:30 p.m.
