Sustainability Week kicks off with Adopt-a-Highway clean up

Grand Valley will temporarily go from Laker blue to green during Campus Sustainability Week September 30-October 6. 

The week will kick off September 30 with a community clean-up of the Campus Dining Green Team's two-mile Adopt-a-Highway section on I-196 near Zeeland. Volunteers should meet at 9 a.m. at The Connection on the Allendale Campus. 

The week will also feature an energy competition, film screening, Wellness Summit, Surplus Store open hours, dedication ceremony for the Sustainable Agriculture Project Demonstration Garden and more.

• October 1: Sustainable Agriculture Project volunteer hours, 1-4 p.m.

• October 2: Demonstration Garden Dedication Ceremony, 3 p.m., outside Au Sable Hall

• October 3: Free Bike Tune Ups at the Farmers Market, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., parking lot G; "Sustainability Around the World" Poster Session, 11 a.m.-noon, Henry Hall atrium

• October 4: "Before the Flood" Filming Screening and Crafting, 5:30-7:30 p.m., room 275, Lake Michigan Hall

• October 5: Walk with the Deans, 10 a.m., begins at Cook Carillon Tower; Wellness Summit, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Kirkhof Center; Farm Olympics and Crafting, 2-4 p.m., Sustainable Agriculture Project

• October 6: Homecoming football game, a zero-waste event, 7 p.m., Lubber Stadium
