Germany has the third largest export economy in the world with its automotive industry alone generating $151 billion in exports in 2016, consisting of 21.8 percent of total car exports worldwide. Doing business in this political and cultural center of Europe may include some challenges for U.S. companies, but it also provides exposure to vast international market opportunities.

The Van Andel Global Trade Center at Grand Valley State University will host "Culture and Coffee: Navigating Germany" from 8-10 a.m., February 23 at the L. William Seidman Center on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus. Topics of discussion will include business meetings, gift giving, communication, business attire and negotiating tactics.

Presenters will discuss best practices for doing business abroad and cultural nuances business professionals may face while traveling or receiving clients from Germany.

Coffee and breakfast will be served. Member price is $25, non-member price is $35.
