Campus mourns death of former staff member

Former Grand Valley employee Jacqueline Jean Vansen, 51, died January 3 at her home in Canadian Lakes. She was 51.

Vansen had served as creative director for Institutional Marketing. She worked at Grand Valley from 1988-2015. She earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Grand Valley in 1987; many pieces of her artwork are displayed on campus. She also served as the initial graphic designer, later creative director, for Grand Valley Magazine, and directed the design of many other university materials. Vansen started her Grand Valley career at WGVU.

A visitation will be held Thursday, January 12, from 2-8 p.m. in Royal Oak at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Ave.; and a funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 13, at Gesu Catholic Church, 17180 Oak Drive, in Detroit.
