Students, faculty and staff members can enroll to support solar energy generated from the Consumers Energy Solar Gardens program, which includes a facility located on the Allendale Campus.

The 17-acre Solar Gardens, scheduled to be completed in spring 2016, will be the largest community solar project in Michigan. It will be located on the Allendale Campus, south of Pierce Street near 48th Avenue.

Consumers Energy is providing subscriptions to solar energy in increments of one-half kilowatt "SolarBlocks." Individuals who are interested can pay upfront or over three, seven or 25 years. Credit for the energy produced will be applied to subscribers' monthly energy bills.

Upon completion of the approximately 11,000-solar-panel project, Grand Valley will participate in the Solar Gardens program as a customer. The collaboration is a reflection of Grand Valley's commitment to sustainability practices.
