Nominations sought for community engagement awards
The Office of Community Engagement seeks nominations for two awards that recognize a community or university initiative that meets high engagement standards.
Ruth Stegeman, assistant dean and director for Community Engagement, said the awards will celebrate initiatives with strong two-way, ongoing relationships between Grand Valley and community partners. Awards of $1,000 and $500 will be given to recipients of the two awards.
Details about the Distinguished Community Engagement Initiative Award and the Emerging Community Engagement Award are posted online,
MCC award
The Michigan Campus Compact is seeking nominations from member institutions for several awards: Innovations in Community Impact Award, Champion of Engagement Award and Outstanding Student Commitment to Service Award.
Nominations are due January 16 to Michigan Campus Compact.
Heather Carpenter, assistant professor of public, nonprofit and health administration, won a Michigan Community Service Learning Award from Michigan Campus Compact in 2014.
Michigan Campus Compact is a coalition of college and university presidents committed to fulfilling the public purpose of higher education.
