MAREC to host annual meeting of Great Lakes Port Association
Grand Valley's Michigan Alternative and Renewable Energy Center (MAREC) will host the annual summer meeting of the American Great Lakes Ports Association July 22-23, which will bring together representatives of the major ports from the Great Lakes region.
The meeting provides a valuable networking opportunity for Great Lakes port managers, terminal operators, maritime industry leaders and policy makers linked to the Great Lakes maritime sector.
Hosting the AGLPA summer meeting in Muskegon is a unique opportunity for West Michigan and coincides with current efforts underway to plan for the future of the Muskegon port, an important natural asset and economic development cornerstone of the region. Recent efforts to help shape the future of Muskegon’s port and Muskegon Lake as a prime natural asset have included a series of meetings titled Vision 2020, hosted by the West Michigan Shoreline Redevelopment Commission (WMSRD).
Both MAREC and Grand Valley's Annis Water Resources Institute (AWRI) are located on the shores of Muskegon Lake.
