The first ever Golf for Groundswell will help raise money for the
community initiative that creates opportunities for hands-on
environmental learning for students throughout Kent County.
Groundswell is housed in Grand Valley State University’s College of Education.
The event will be held July 21 at Egypt Valley Country Club in
Grand Rapids. The day includes an 18-hole, four-person scramble; a
silent auction; lunch and a raffle with prizes. Registration and
breakfast will be from 7:45-8:45 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
Lunch and an awards ceremony will follow in the Egypt Valley Clubhouse.
The cost is $125 per participant ($500 for a foursome); a
lunch-only ticket is $25. All proceeds will go directly to Groundswell
schools, teachers and students.
Groundswell, a coalition of community partners, is a hub of the
Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative that enhances student learning and
empowers students to develop solutions to environmental problems in
their communities. Groundswell offers teacher professional development
and academic service learning.
