Richard Jelier, professor and director of the School of Public,
Nonprofit and Health Administration, will present his research from
Moscow State University during the next CCPS Sabbatical Lunch and
Learn Series.
Faculty members from the College of Community and Public Service
are showcasing their research during a series of meetings in
celebration of the college’s 10th anniversary.
Jelier’s presentation, “View from one of Stalin’s Seven Sisters:
Moscow’s Transition from Communism to ‘Dollarocracy’ and the return of
Holy Russia,” will take place December 3, from 11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. in
the Bicycle Building, room 340.
In his presentation, Jelier will challenge many of the American
stereotypes of Russians and Muscovites that were formed during decades
of Cold War relations and the collapse of the Soviet Empire. Jelier
taught an undergraduate course, conducted a seminar series for public
administration doctoral students and presented a number of public
lectures and conference presentations to and with Russians.
