A message from President Haas

Grand Valley State University President Thomas J. Haas sent a message to the campus community Feb. 20:

Dear students, faculty, staff and members of the Grand Valley community:

Police Chief Renee Freeman informed our campus community of the death of one of our students. It is a time of great sadness whenever we lose a member of our student family. I want to express my deepest sympathies to the student’s family, friends and classmates.

The death of a close friend is painful and can be stressful. Grand Valley’s Counseling Center has staff members available to assist those who are grieving or who need any type of counseling. I want to especially encourage those who might feel in distress to take advantage of the many programs we have available. The Counseling Center can be reached at 331-3266.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with family and friends now and in the weeks to come.

Sincerely,
Thomas J. Haas
President
